I was 31R, which was "Multi-channel Radio Communications tech", which is fancy military wording for "Radio Guy", lol. My job was to make sure people could send transmissions back and forth from the field. We had Humvees with radio equipment in the back. Not a combat job, but still required us to be on the scene to relay communications. I thought about doing infantry, but I didn't want to have to shoot anyone, or be used for political reasons that were against my morals. I figured radio support was something I could do to help, without having to take life. There are too many conflicts we are involved with that I don't morally support. I didn't want to become the weapon of some corrupt politician's agenda. These days, its hard to tell why we are involved in a conflict till after it's over, and by then, its too late to withdraw any regretful decisions.
